BobMarley CDdesign

Here are my initial comps... I chose to have "bob marley" go over the four cds. I thought of writing disc 1, disc 2 etc, but I don't think it would be necessary. In my opinion, it look better if his name was all that was on the cds (to keep it simpler). What do you guys think?

carol's daughter, mockup

Here are some ideas for shampoo bottles... Unfortunately, the colors on the four first are totally wrong and I don't know how to fix it. The colors are greenish yellow for the patterns... the caps are going to be sprayed in metallic rust color. The last one is as is...

carol's daughter, sketch

Here are my sketches for carol's daughter... my goal is to give her products a more organic and natural feel, so I decided to have imagery of nature in all except for the last where I made that one even more simplified with only a label for name and product. Each design has shampoo, face cream, hand lotion, and fragrance.

set I - wood top with plastic jar
set II - plastic top (pastel colors) or wood
set III - plastic or see-through
set IV - metal or plastic
set V - plastic with wood top

folgers, second draft

I chose to go with this idea... The brown on the first set is supposed to be darker, and the red on the middle once are more red. Im having difficulties deciding which color background to go with... and the layout on the sides as well. I would appreciate to get some suggestions.
Thanks in advance:)

EMERGE

Going to the emerge student design exhibition was very exiting and fun. Actually, it was way over my expectation. Much of the works presented was very beautiful and well designed. I had several favorites, where most of them were typographical designs. Unfortunately, I can not post pictures of any of them because I did not bring my camera, but I really liked the typography poster that had various squares and rectangles. There was another typographic poster on the same wall which I liked much. It was dark grey with lots of lighter gray type in its background. On the foreground was some pastel colored figure or symbol. Overall, the show was great. The idea of having a competition of student work and presenting them in an exhibition is very positive and motivational.

Good/Bad Packages

For this first assignment I decided to compare three food and beverage packages, one good and one bad of same or similar product.

First, I compared coffee sweeteners... the one to the right is just boring and too plane. The color choice is not the greatest. Although, in my opinion, less color is almost always a better choice, I don't think it works for this package. The sweetener to the left has a unique  shape, which is the main reason for me to pick this one as a good and successful product.

The same goes for the orange juices... The shape on the left is much more interesting and perhaps more functional. The juice to the right has too big imagery and appears to be much cheaper.

Nether of the oil packages are too cluttered, however the bottle on the left gives the feeling of sophistication and elegance. The bottle to the right is probably more comfortable when holding, but the thin plastic which its made of, gives this package the appearance of being cheap and boring.
